Jan 30- Feb 3rd
Last week we focused on
4.NF 4 & 5 NF 5 Multiplying fractions by whole numbers, sets, and by other fractions.
by
writing algorithms, modeling visuals, solving real-world problems, and measuring the items of chosen items.
Students should be comfortable explaining what happens to the product when it's multiplied by fractions or whole numbers. Please ask your child to explain to you whether the product gets bigger or smaller when you multiply it by the following:
a fraction by a whole number
a fraction by a fraction
a fraction by a set.
(5 NF 5-I can identify that a number multiplied by a fraction that is
greater than 1 will result in a greater number.
I can identify that a number multiplied by a fraction that is less
than 1 will result in a smaller number.)
This week students will be working on the following learning targets
5 NF 6 I can solve real-world problems involving multiplying
fractions and mixed numbers.
5 NF 7
I can divide fractions by whole-numbers.
¼ ÷ 3 = 1/4 ÷ 3/1 = 1/4 x 1/3 =1/12
5.NF.7b I can divide whole-numbers
by fractions.
3 ÷ 1/4 = 3/1 ÷ 1/4 = 3/1 x 4/1 =
12/1 = 12
5.NF.7c I can solve real-world
problems involving dividing
fractions.
