Learning Targets for this week.
I can continue monitoring my theories about the characters I read.
I can connect with the characters in my book and empathize with them.
I can begin to notice when my characters act differently then themselves and make predictions on what they will do next.
I can not only make predictions but visualize how these predictions may happen.
I can demonstrate and describe my responsibilities during Readers Workshop including our guided reading lessons, independent reading, and partner sharing.
WW WRITERS WORKSHOP-
Students are continuing to work on elaborating and revising their personal narratives in class. Once we move through the unit, students will choose a strong narrative and publish it through on online publishing site called Student Treasurers. These books will be published and bound into hard-covered keep-sakes that you can order for your family. They usually take a month to arrive. Depending on the timing, we may be able to order them for the holiday season. I will update our ordering status on our website and in class dojo. Order forms will be sent home once all students have built and submitted their online narratives.
This week's learning targets:
I can continue building my writing stamina
I can plan my stories by building a plot mountain
I can add voice to my stories by using dialog, sensory details, and vivid verbs.
I can use transition words to help speed up and slow down the pace of my story.
I can end my story with a lesson learned or strong authors message.
