March
Students have completed their historical fiction skits about perspectives of the Revolutionary War called "Revolutionary War From All Sides." I will post the videos here soon. Scores have been added to our Social Studies google classroom. Scored Rubrics were sent home.
The next several weeks we are continuing on through Michigan history and studying how Michigan became a state. Due to our STEAM fair project and new unit on Plants within Science, this test test has been moved again to the middle of March. Students are working on taking notes about this time period.
From there, we will move into a study of government and economics in Michigan.
The Revolutionary War from All Sides
The year is 1776. News is spreading quickly that a Declaration of Independence has been written and signed in Philadelphia. There is a pub at a trading post (fictional) in Michigan where traders like to come to have dinner after a long day of trading or travel. People of many different backgrounds are welcome to come eat here and discuss the politics and issues of the day. The server and owner
of the pub Will I Am Erman has one rule. You may eat there if you can discuss your issues in a respectful way. Write a short skit of a dinner table conversation between several acquaintances from different backgrounds in the Revolutionary War. In the skit, they decide whose side they will take and why. Each person must express their point of view. (Time limit: 7 minutes) Due Febrauary 6th. (Written and Rehearse)
H3.5 - I can use and create informational text and visual data to compare American Indians and Settlers in early history of Michigan.
