Oct. 31-Nov . . . . (several weeks) ?
These standards are very complex and will take awhile. We want to ensure that your child really understands how to compose and decompose these numbers in a variety of ways. This will help build a strong foundation for future math problems in fractions and algebra.
Numbers and Base Ten and Order of Operations Continued. . .
This week we are testing NBT 5 (multiplication) and making new flexible groups based on our data.
From there, your child will either continue working on multi-digit multiplication or move to multi-digit division. Your child could have a new teacher for math workshop.
We are also continuing our study of factor pairs and patterns. If possible, we will begin working with associative, commutative, and distributive property. Once this is mastered, we will move onto Order of Operations.
OA.4 I can gain familiarity of factor pairs in the range of 1-100.
OA.5 I can generate and analyze patterns that follow a given rule. (ex add 3 and the starting number 1
OA 1. I can use the order of operations to evaluate expressions.
