May
We are continuing our exploration on Michigan's economy for the month of May.
Students are engaged in a PBL (project based learning opportunity)
that answers the following question
"How can I teach and inspire my community members to participate in Michigan's economy?"
The project is called
What in the World Did We Do?
We will have a culminating event called
The Michigan Fair, June 1st, at 1:00pm, located in the playground behind Mrs. Henderson's room at Amerman Elementary.
Parents, family, community members, and students are invited to come and celebrate.
Our hopes are to teach and inspire you to participate and help Michigan's economy in a variety of ways.
This past week, students discussed and explored the rubric, technology tools including Google Tour Builder, as well as researched Michigan tourism to integrate into their presentation projects.
Ways you can help:
Discuss great Michigan and Northville Companies you love.
Introduce your child to any CEO's, or any Michigan business owners and help them through an interview to reveal concepts that could be added to the Michigan fair.
Ask to see the rubric. Ask them to explain their ideas. Ask, ask about their progress!
The following is a list taken from our Social Studies Grade Level Content Expectations which will also be integrated into this project
• Basic, scientific, technological, financial, economic, and civic literacy • Visual and information literacy • Cultural literacy and global awareness • Adaptability, ability to manage complexity, and self-direction • Curiosity, creativity, and risk-taking • Higher order thinking and sound reasoning • Teaming and collaboration • Personal and social responsibility • Interactive communication • Prioritizing, planning, and managing for results • Effective use of real-world tools • High quality results with real-world application
