We are continuing our study of Michigan's history and Geography, specifically the study of Michigan's first people: Early American Indians.
At this point your child has been working on using technology and text book resources with primary and secondary resources to research the history, culture, and geographical location of one of the following Native Tribes of Early Michigan.
The Huron, The Odawa/Ottowa, The Potowatomi, The Ojibway/Chippewa, and the Iroquois
Ask your child to share with you what they have learned so far.
Students have practiced finding information and paraphrasing the language to make it their own.
This week, your child will practice sharing documents and presentations within Google as well as practicing uploading images and other text features to help illustrate the daily life of the Native American tribe.
After the holiday, students will begin building models of their tribes home as well as comparing and contrasting their group's tribe to others.
From there students will begin to explore what happens when "different people" first meet as begin to read about when European Explorers and soldiers first arrived in Michigan.
