WEEK OF OCT 31-Nov
We are going on a field trip Nov 16 to enhance our study of Michigan geography, history, and economics. Please see important dates. Permission slips are being sent home, Monday.
Students have completed their geography study of Michigan and its natural characteristics. Elevation, climate, population, and land usage maps were sent home Friday. Thank you to all who helped with this wonderful project! The students seemed to love it. Ask them to describe their maps to you and make connections between the maps. For example, "What do you notice about Michigan's climate and elevation? Where do you notice most farming occurring low lands or mountains? Why do you think that is? Where do you notice most people living?
We are moving into study Michigan's history, specifically the study of Michigan's first people: Early American Indians. We will begin a project that will take us up through our holiday break.
Your child will be assigned a group of people to study and present. Parts of the presentation will include a google presentation, a model of the territory/ home, and other elements that will help us compare and contrast Michigan's first people.
Please ask your child what group of people they have been assigned. Once they begin to explore their territory and home life, students will be expected to bring in supplies for the purpose of making a group model of a village.
