Numbers and Base Ten Continued. . .
Last week, we worked with different ways to decompose numbers through multiplication. We will continue to explore decomsing numbers in a variety up ways up through the millions and down through the thousandths place in order to strengthen our understanding of numbers, patterns, and place value.
Students are also in the process of taking their NBT 1-4 quiz. (place value, rounding, comparing, and multiplying decimals.)
These will be kept in student leadership binders. You can view these anytime you wish. Just ask your child to bring it home. They do need to return the next day.
We will also be continuing our study of multiplication, factors, multiples, and patterns this week in order to set a strong foundation for our division and fractions unit. (Taken from Unit 1 - Operations and Algebraic thinking OA 1-5)
Students have completed their games which have been added to our games station within math workshop! We will also explore our mathematical practices by modeling different ways to solve all problems including multiplication problems using standard algorithm, partial product, lattice, and other visual methods that help allow for more mental math or alternative ways to decompose numbers.
