Oct 3-7
We are continuing our character study to help deepen our comprehension of the fictional books we read. Students must continue reading and tracking their progress on the 40 book challenge in their leadership notebook. We will begin exploring story elements with Tiger Rising, our guided reading novels (ask your child which one they are beginning this week) as well as their own independent just- right-books. They can begin thinking about their story board projects which are due November first. This has been added to our google classroom under reading. Your child should have joined the classroom by now to read about the project.

This week's learning targets continued (NWEA put some of these on hold):
I can continue building my writing stamina
I can plan my plot mountain, include and develop story elements such as setting, conflict, and resolution.
I can use transition words to help speed up and slow down the pace of my story.
I can end my story with a lesson learned or strong authors message.
